Plant Phenomic Facility at Saveer Biotech Limited

The genetic makeup of the cell is the genotype and genotype is a part of the DNA sequence. The genotypes are the inherited map an organism carries. The study of the characteristics of the organism is known as the phenotype. In phenotypes we study the phenomes which relate to the biochemical and physical traits of the organisms. The branch of biology related to the study of phenomes is known as Phenomics.

In order to develop new instruments for quick and comprehensive study of phenotypes the plant phenomics facility is created. The phenomics facility helps in measuring the phenotypes both in the lab and in field production. Under the plant phenomics facility biologists study and address how the environment and genetics of the plants interact with each other and how new characteristic are formed.

At Saveer Biotech, we understand and develop healthy and disease free crops in a healthy environment. We were the first to award the project of plant phenomics facility development to study the genetic makeup of the cell. We have established state-of–the-art technology to study the genomes and phenomes of the plants used in the greenhouse food production.

Off late the scalability of the technologies for DNA sequencing have increased, however, the phenotypic analysis is still relatively expensive. The research of phenomics at plant phenomics facility demands research teams to be integrated vertically and new and original analytical strategies and competent informatics infrastructure in order to manage the complexity in the study of phenomics.

The current technology used at the plant phenomics facility promises the dynamic phenotyping by repeating the process of refinement in order to analyze the phenotypes based on their prior genotype-phenotype associations. The phenomics facility helps us in studying the traction across species of plants considering the speedy development and extension in transgenic reproduction.

Additionally, the state-of–the-art technology at the phenomics facility enables us to focus on soaring throughput analysis of functioning and growth of plants. The technology can be used at a variety of plants from dicots to cereals and to a range of woody perennials. Plants used in the greenhouse food production are shifted automatically with the help of a conveyor belt to an imaging system which records all the physical characteristics of the plants.

Further, all plant containers in the phenomics facility are individually identifiable and allows imaging. The system at phenomics facility enables us to individually program the nutrition and watering of plants.
